MTR II (Advanced)
MTR II (Advanced)
Mountain Travel & Rescue II Advanced Course
This class provides you the basic for survival in a winter environment and prepares a patroller for becoming a backcountry rescuer and skier. This course is an elective for senior, and the basic for overnight travel in a winter environment. Attendees are required to have completed both Level I Avalanche and MTR I.
In the MTR II (advanced) course, you'll get to bring out more backcountry toys. You will get to use a tent, stove, skins, and other equipment. This class is not about surviving but about learning and honing your backcountry skills.
We will have one weekend of rope work and equipment checkout at Big Bear. The field session will include skinning out to a location, setting up camp, and exploring the next day. Even if you're new to this, you'll have a blast and make some great friends. There is a longer classroom portion and a two night, three day field check out.
