On January 22, 2022 we held an Women’s Ski & Toboggan Enhancement Clinic at Snow Valley Ski Resort, hosted by Fonda Church (So Cal Women’s Regional Advisor) and Assistant Advisor Robin Mayne (Women’s Assistant Regional Advisor) from BBMR patrol, featuring Linda Roth, OET / PSIA certified instructor and Far West Division Women’s Advisor, Trudy Nye, visiting from Tahoe. This clinic was the largest turnout in patrollers and patrols represented ever. Seventeen women from various patrols within our region (Alta Sierra, Lee Canyon, BBMR, Heavenly, and Snow Valley) participated and contributed to this event. (more…)
Read MoreThis past October, a potluck held in Big Bear gathered over twenty alumni for an afternoon of good food and camaraderie. A special guest, Pat Hartman, joined the group sharing her stories of being one of the first patrollers at Snow Summit in 1953, back when the resort only had rope tows!
The Big Bear Ski Patrol Refresher was also held on the same weekend, allowing these alumni to participate as instructors and injured guests as the current patrol team gets ready for the upcoming season!

Read MoreThe 2017 Big Bear Ski Patrol candidate class completed the Outdoor Emergency Training (OET) portion of their training on February 25 and are now in the process of completing their on-the-hill mentoring. The core of the OET program is to learn is how to safely transport an injured skier or boarder from any location on the mountain to the first aid room or other advanced care.
